St Jean de Minervois

Air photograph St Jean of minervois

It is necessary to come at St Jean for a tasting from their excellent muscatel, wine of AOC St Jean de Minervois. A remarkable wine considering the state of the stone fields which the vines occupy.
(to be consumed with moderation)
HISTORY
The origins of St Jean de Minervois go up very far in time. Indeed, a significant prehistoric material was discovered in the many rock shelters neighbourhood, Particulary in the faults separating causses. This very old occupation at the origin of the creation of the current of hamlets and firm sites is isolated.
The chain of Marcory, mentioned at the 17ème century, separated the grounds from the abbey with those of Minervois and Pardailhan. One finds there still today, at the top, close to the signal, of the armoriées terminals.
At the Roman time, only one way crossed the sector: Via Vicinalis. It passed very close to the Roman glassmakings of Barroubio.
