St Gervais sur Mare preserves the memory of its past where the activities
of nail factory, of cerclery, spinning mills and embroideries, as
well as the culture of sweet chestnut, made the richness of the
country.
The exploitation of the coal basin and the startup of the railroad
also contributed to the prosperity of the village.

with great reinforcement of tools, costumes and objects the rural
life and the trades of formerly.
Bathed by water of "la Mare", Saint Gervais sur Mare has
an interesting architectural heritage with its caladées lanes, its
old working, Pioch, its houses of 16th and 17th centuries.
The church St Prothé, of Romance origin, rebuilt after the war of
religion, has barrel vaults resting on geminated columns and a Gothic
vault. The bell-tower of the 11th century was strengthened and armed
with "échaugettes" to the 14th siècle.Small vault deserves
